Influences
Vietnam has had a long history with spirituality not unlike the rest of the world. There were many idigenous beliefs. Later in history there were 3 main teachings that started to apper within the country those being Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. They all brought different philosophies into the daily lives of community members. It also allowed for a great flood of literature that is now called medieval fantasy and, in some ways, was created as a resistance to the state-sanctioned version of Confucianism. This merger between the indigenous beliefs and the new teachings led to what many people suggest gave Vietnam a large part of its spirtual and moral identities.
